The Flying Turtles

Fabled Dominion

A deep dive into the numerous lore creatures of Dominion, seeking out their Origin, history and surrounding stories.

First appearance of the thaumaturgic turtles

On a cold evening around the end of December, the server was in a state of stress. The server was overloaded due to people playing during the holidays. Dominion's administrative overlords decided to implement a server modification to reduce this unforeseen server workload. The admins removed mobile entities of their AI during the stress and gave it back when the server relaxed. In what could only be described as a miracle, the server went out during a period where the AI was removed, creating three magical flying turtles in the base of a player named Qwaczar. After discovering the turtles hovering in his command, he called this magical threesome Tim, Magic and Philip.

General behaviour

The three turtles were stuck in mid-air, hovering over the ground in stasis. They were not able to be moved by any player or attacked by anyone but the operators. Through trial and error, it was discovered that the magical turtles could be transported via pushing them with pistons.

Current whereabouts

After discovering a way to move the turtles, Qwaczar quickly wanted to share the turtles with the world. Philip can be found in the Dominion Museum, pushed there by Qwaczar. Within the depths of Qwaczar's base, Tim is living their best life. Finally, magic once lived at the northern nether portal to greet Dominion's travellers. ItsWilven did slay the creature Magic in a terrible Late Night Dominion Accident. Sadly this leaves only two flying turtles on Dominion.

Experiments

Not everyone believes in magic turtles, it would seem. With knowledge of other so-called "magical flying creatures", Dominion Reporter BobTheSnob has since taken it into their own hands to find the truth behind their creation. Bob has attempted to recreate the incident using scaffolding and other such methods to no avail. Not troubled, they have a 40 diamond block bounty for anyone able to create such magical flying beasts.

Conclusion

These magical creatures may be magical, but they indeed were not invincible. This story surely tells us that if you find such a creature, keep it close, keep it safe and for cod sake, don't let Wilven near it!
